Breeder Admission Criteria - 3 Levels
We have strict criteria for breeders at HonestDog. The verification takes place in three steps. You can always see these next to the profile picture so you know how this breeder has been verified so far.
Level 1 - Approved by HonestDog
The breeder has registered on HonestDog, uploaded all necessary documents for approval (breeder identity and health certificates of all breeding dogs). After verifying the documents, we conduct a personal interview with the breeders, discussing breeding strategies, puppy socialization, and we inspect the breeding environment via video call. Only if breeders meet all criteria are they approved on our platform and receive Level 1.
Level 2 - Community Feedback
Your feedback is an additional component for verifying breeders. This ensures that our breeders also meet our strict criteria during repeated visits from different interested parties. If we learn that something is wrong, we will naturally address it.
Level 3 - Dog Expert Visit
Our breeders can request a personal visit from an HonestDog dog expert or a dog expert from our network. Breeders who meet all strict criteria and have been personally verified receive Level 3.
