Ich halte meinen Großen Münsterländer Rüden jetzt seit gut zwei Jahren. Was mir bei ihm im Alltag besonders auffällt, ist sein Radius beim Freilauf. Im Vergleich zu manchen Hütehunden bleibt er eigentlich recht nah bei mir und hält von sich aus eine ganz gute Distanz. Für einen passionierten Jagdhund ist das wirklich angenehm und macht die Spaziergänge deutlich entspannter, als ich es anfangs befürchtet hatte.
Allerdings darf man sich von dieser scheinbaren Leichtigkeit nicht täuschen lassen: Er findet draußen immer wieder ganz eigene, extrem spannende Gründe, um seine Grenzen auszutesten und den Radius doch mal ein Stück zu erweitern. Da muss man als Halter absolut aufmerksam bleiben und rechtzeitig pfeifen oder eingreifen, bevor der Jagdtrieb komplett die Führung übernimmt. Wenn man ihn aber konsequent führt und seine Aufmerksamkeit behält, ist er ein absolut treuer und toller Begleiter.
Wir haben eine junge Große Münsterländer Hündin, die uns im ersten Jahr wirklich extrem fordert. Sie ist unglaublich aktiv und zeigt eine enorme Nervosität. Ohne Leine können wir sie aktuell überhaupt nicht laufen lassen, weil sie uns sonst sofort ausbüchst und auf eigene Faust loszieht. Das macht die täglichen Runden im Moment ziemlich anstrengend und nervenaufreibend.
Selbst bei der jagdlichen Arbeit merken wir ihre enorme Hibbeligkeit – sie ist so hypermotiviert, dass sie ständig jault und winselt vor Aufregung, wenn es nicht schnell genug geht. Uns wurde von Jagdkollegen zwar schon zu einer Kastration geraten, um sie ruhiger zu bekommen, aber wir merken einfach, dass es vor allem eine Frage der richtigen Auslastung und der Reife ist. Diese Rasse braucht extrem viel körperliche und geistige Beschäftigung, um ihre Energie in die richtigen Bahnen zu lenken, sonst steht man ganz schnell vor einem extrem gestressten Nervenbündel.
