Unser Oskar ist der absolute Traumhund, aber man darf sich von der süßen Teddy-Optik nicht täuschen lassen. Er ist ein echter „Klettverschluss-Hund“ und weicht mir im Haus keine Sekunde von der Seite – selbst im Badezimmer habe ich keine Privatsphäre mehr. Er ist unglaublich liebevoll und anhänglich, aber das bringt auch eine große Kehrseite mit sich: die Trennungsangst. Ihn auch nur für eine Stunde allein zu lassen, war anfangs ein riesiges Drama mit lautem Weinen und Bellen. Wir mussten das Alleinbleiben in extrem kleinen, mühsamen Schritten über Monate hinweg trainieren.
Eine weitere Sache, die wir völlig unterschätzt haben, ist der Pflegeaufwand. Oskars Fell ist eine Mischung aus Locken und dichter Unterwolle, die wahnsinnig schnell verfilzt. Wenn man da nicht täglich mit der Bürste hinterher ist, entstehen sofort Knoten. Wir müssen alle sechs bis acht Wochen zum professionellen Hundefriseur, was auf Dauer natürlich auch ins Geld geht. Wer einen pflegeleichten Hund sucht, ist beim Cavapoochon definitiv an der falschen Adresse.

Wir haben uns damals für unsere Hündin Bella entschieden, weil wir einen intelligenten, aber handlichen Begleiter gesucht haben. Und schlau ist sie wirklich! Allerdings braucht dieser kluge Kopf auch Beschäftigung. Wenn Bella geistig nicht ausgelastet ist, fängt sie schnell an, Frust aufzubauen, und meldet dann jedes kleinste Geräusch im Treppenhaus. Man darf diese Hunde trotz ihrer geringen Größe nicht als reine Schoßhunde unterschätzen. Zudem sollte man vor dem Kauf unbedingt auf die Gesundheit der Elterntiere achten. Da hier drei Rassen mitmischen, können auch deren typische Schwachstellen wie Herzerkrankungen oder Kniescheibenprobleme (Patellaluxation) vererbt werden. Wir haben gezielt nach einem Züchter gesucht, der die Elterntiere gründlich darauf hat untersuchen lassen.

Sie ist ein aktiver, fröhlicher Hund, der tägliche Beschäftigung braucht. Wer denkt, sich mit dieser Designer-Mischung einen 'unkomplizierten Mitläufer' ins Haus zu holen, wird schnell eines Besseren belehrt. Mit der richtigen Erziehung ist sie aber der beste Familienhund, den man sich wünschen kann.
